It has spongy characteristics, possessing excellent air space and drainage with a water holding capacity of > 70%. A compressed brick, block or bale should be soaked in water for at least 15 minutes before using.
Coir can expand 5 to 7 times in volume. Make sure you have a large enough container when soaking your coir.
